Effect of SAPs and polypropylene fibres on the freeze-thaw resistance of low carbon roller compacted concrete pavement

چکیده

Most concrete currently used in pavement is based on Portland cement (PC), being responsible for 8-10% of total CO 2 emission. Moreover, external pavements are subjected to exposure classes XF4 and XD3 which related corrosion freeze-thaw. Freeze-thaw resistance an important durability property concrete, especially that the de-icing salts. This study was designed explore freeze-thaw mass scaling low carbon Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) presence water Four different RCC mixes were with a water/binder ratio 0.45. PC replaced 80% ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) all develop move towards more sustainable cementitious composite. To assess effectiveness smart engineered additives, superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) at 0.3% by weight binder, Polypropylene (PP) fibre 12-mm length volume fractions mitigation damage. The compressive strength, resistance, specimens evaluated. results indicate both additives improved strength without inclusion PP effective compared addition SAPs mitigate extent internal structural damage self-healing respect reference after 56 cycles.

The Effects of Concrete Pavement Mix Design Parameters on Durability under Freeze and Thaw Condition

This paper is based on an experimental research that examined the effects of concrete`s major parameters on durability of concrete pavements and curbs under freezing and thawing cycles. These parameters include concrete mix design parameters such as water-cement ratio, fine aggregate percentage and using air entraining admixture and simulating real freeze-thaw cycles that infrastructures underg...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Investigating the Effect of natural Pozzolans on Mechanical Properties of Roller Compacted Concrete

Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC), is a concrete with zero slump, which is used in damming and road pavement. Roller Compacted Concrete Pavement (RCCP) bear heavy traffic loads and severe weather conditions. This type of concrete is due to its economic and environmental capabilities, including reduced construction and maintenance costs, longer durability and longer lifetime, as well as environmen...
